Linoleum Block Prints, Birch Bark Frames, and Notecards

Welcome to DCastleBabcockArt

I have been a Linoleum Block printmaker for more than forty years. The first time I created a reduction linoleum block print, I fell in love with the process. I enjoy working with texture and color. My imagery features scenes from the Adirondacks and Upstate New York.

Because prints are created in editions, I can sell my work to many people and still keep one print for myself.  One of my goals is to create artwork that is affordable and accessible. Along with framed, matted, and unmatted original prints, I offer notecards and mouse pads.  I collect Birch Bark and Birch branches during my travels, which I have incorporated into my work.

Whether you are here to shop in my online for art or to learn more about the process, please be sure to sign up for my mailing list.  Thanks for stopping by.

Linoleum Block Prints of Upstate New York and the Adirondacks
Learn  about my workshops and my work as a Printmaker

My original linocuts feature scenes of New York State.  I am inspired by the beauty of Adirondack Landscapes, from which I create my linoleum block prints, Adirondack Birch bark home decor and  scenic New York notecards.  While I hike through the woods, I take photos and use my powers of observation to develop imagery based on what I experience. I also collect Birch Bark and Birch branches along the trail  that I incorporate in my Birch bark frames, crosses and Birch branch shadow boxes.  As I sit and take in the views on the mountain tops, I organize my thoughts as to what will make a breathtaking composition for a new original linocut.

My reputation as an Adirondack printmaker from New York comes from my fifteen years of living in the Adirondacks, along with my many trips to the region throughout my lifetime. Visiting my booth at an art festival or my online store is a virtual vacation to the Adirondacks. My linoleum block prints depict locations many of you will recognize if you travel to the mountains and love the area as I do.

Although some of my imagery is very location specific, other linocuts are more generic in subject matter. My moonlight prints are inspired by my frequent dog walks at all times of the day and night. I also have linoleum block prints depicting dogs with their humans.  Since I am a native New Yorker, my linoleum block prints reflect the landscape of upstate New York.

I have practiced the craft of Linoleum block printing for more than forty years. I use a process called reduction printing. Rather than using a separate linoleum block for each color, I create a multiple color image by carving and printing in stages from a single block. To learn more about this process, go to my reduction printing process page. I also offer demonstrations and printmaking workshops in New York State.  Contact me if you are interested in booking a demonstration or workshop for your organization.

Click here to shop for my original linocut prints online.  You may purchase my original linoleum art framed, matted or unmatted.  Although I use a very labor intensive process, I strive to keep my linoleum art affordable and accessible.  I offer a variety of sizes, color palettes, and imagery to complement your home decor.  Shipping is free for orders

I offer a variety of notecards featuring my Adirondack landscape prints of New York and my very popular moonlight linocuts.  My linoleum block print notecards are perfect for sending a greeting to a loved one, or framing them for your own enjoyment.

I hope that seeing my Linoleum block prints of upstate New York will instill you with an appreciation for the beauty of nature in this region. To get updates on my shows and new original linocut art, sign up for my newsletter.
